On Friday, July 10, 2026, Piotr Czopek, Vice President of PSEW and Wind Industry Hub, took part in a ceremony organized by Polskie Sieci Elektroenergetyczne to mark the completion of the 400 kV Choczewo substation in Osieki Lęborskie. This is Poland’s first substation designed to receive power from offshore wind farms. On the same day, the first power from the Baltic Power wind farm—built by ORLEN and Northland Power—was fed into the National Power System via this substation.

The event was attended by, among others, Prime Minister Donald Tusk, Minister of Climate and Environment Paulina Hennig-Kloska, Minister of Energy Miłosz Motyka, and Minister of Finance Andrzej Domański, as well as Canada’s Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Tim Hodgson.

The Choczewo substation covers 25 hectares and was designed as an extra-high-voltage hub—this is where energy from offshore wind farms will be fed before traveling via PSE transmission lines deeper into the country. The project received approximately 530 million PLN in funding from the National Recovery Plan. It is particularly important to us that Polish companies were involved in the construction of the substation—this is yet another example of how the development of offshore wind energy translates into contracts for domestic industry and services.
