The Wind Industry Hub Foundation was actively involved in various activities during Power Connect in Gdańsk.

On the first day of the conference, Piotr Czopek took part in the discussion ‘Transformation, Polish style. How Polish companies are entering green supply chains’. The discussion was moderated by Mateusz Kowalewski, GospodarkaMorska.pl, and the other panellists were:
✔️ Sławomir Staszak, ORLEN S.A.
✔️ Kacper Kostrzewa, Ocean Winds
✔️ Tomasz Kopka, Polish Investment and Trade Agency
✔️ Robert Kowalski, PGE Polska Grupa Energetyczna
✔️ Grzegorz Maj, Polskie Elektrownie Jądrowe

Meanwhile, Dominika Taranko hosted a “Fireside Chat” with Jen Tyldesley, Charge d’Affaires at the British Embassy in Warsaw, and David Decrock, Head of Energy & Low Carbon Transition for EMEA at Scottish Development International. The meeting took place on the World Connect stage, where British and Scottish companies forming part of the delegation to Poland also had the opportunity to present themselves.

We also dedicated an afternoon study visit to Baltic Towers and GP Baltic for this group – thanks to the hospitality of these two companies. Despite the rather chilly weather, the participants brought back very warm memories from the factory and shipyard.

On the second day of the conference, i.e. the morning of 19 March, Dominika Taranko led a discussion entitled “Offshore – building the Polish value chain”, in which the following took part:
✔️ Mariusz Witonski, Vice-President of PIMEW – Polish Offshore Wind Industry Chamber
✔️ Piotr Dziubałtowski, Vice-President for Operations, PGE Baltica
✔️ Karolina Zięba, Senior Offshore Wind Associate, The Carbon Trust

We then dedicated the entire afternoon to a moderated networking session with the British-Scottish delegation. The bilateral meetings began with lunch and a whisky tasting at the UK stand organised within the exhibition grounds. In the second part, companies from the UK and Poland moved to a matchmaking session, where, following a joint presentation of profiles from nearly 40 companies, over 90 meetings took place in a B2B “speed dating” format. The event was coordinated by a team from Wind Industry Hub and the Polish Wind Energy Association – Katarzyna Lewandowska and Michał Forycki. We organised the B2B matchmaking with participants from the British mission in partnership with the British Embassy in Warsaw.

We hope that the discussions held will result in long-term, valuable partnerships!
