On 25 February, the Wind Industry Hub Foundation held a workshop in Szczecin on the Floating Offshore Wind Innovation Roadmap as part of the I3FLOAT project.
Floating wind projects are beginning to play an increasingly important role in European offshore wind energy projects, especially in countries with deeper waters, such as the United Kingdom, France, Norway, Portugal and Spain.
The development of this new technology is also an opportunity for suppliers in the supply chain from industrialised regions. West Pomerania has high production potential and, as part of the I3FLOAT project, has been recognised as one of the key regions for innovation development for the entire investment life cycle, enabling local SMEs to apply for innovation grants of EUR 60,000.
Yesterday’s workshop was conducted by Wind Industry Hub experts Dominika Taranko, Oliwia Mróz-Malik and Michał Forycki, who told companies from the offshore wind supply chain and scientists from West Pomeranian universities about the technology, the project’s objectives, its schedule and planned study trips. During the subsequent joint debate, the Innovation Lines were discussed, within which the region shows the greatest research and commercialisation potential. The conclusions from the discussion will be used to develop the Floating Offshore Wind Innovation Roadmap, and the challenges defined in it will be used to organise subsequent calls for proposals.
Thank you for your attendance and we invite you to the next workshop during the PSEW Conference in Świnoujście in June!
