In 2025, the Wind Industry Hub Foundation joined the international I3FLOAT project, co-funded by the European Union. The project aims to develop the idea of floating offshore wind energy in Europe and overcome barriers related to investment scalability and the supply chain.

The consortium implementing the project consists of 24 partner institutions from 8 regions of Europe. Wind Industry Hub acts as the ‘Connecting Node Cluster’ for the West Pomerania region, connecting companies from the province with the project ecosystem. This means that West Pomerania has been designated as one of four key connecting nodes in Europe, alongside the Canary Islands, the Campania region in Italy and Varna in Bulgaria.

Our first initiative is to create a roadmap entitled: ‘Innovation in the field of floating offshore wind’. In order to gather the opinions of all entities interested in participating in the floating wind farm sector, on Wednesday, 25 February, from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., we are organising a dedicated workshop in Szczecin entitled Innovation in floating wind energy – action plan. The event will be a great opportunity to jointly identify the areas with the greatest potential for domestic business throughout the entire life cycle of floating wind farms, on which the R&D sector should focus. The upcoming workshop will be one of two that we plan to organise in 2026.

WHAT NEXT?

Participation in the project brings measurable benefits for domestic entrepreneurs. Thanks to the involvement of Wind Industry Hub in the I3Float project, local companies will be able to take part in so-called ‘Open Calls’, which provide for grants of EUR 60,000 for 50 small and medium-sized enterprises. The total cascade funding pool for innovative projects is EUR 3,000,000. In addition, companies will gain access to advisory and financial support services and networking missions to facilitate their expansion into foreign markets.

We warmly invite everyone interested in this rapidly developing technology – contractors, investors, institutions and universities – from both Western Pomerania and other regions to participate in the workshops! Participation is free of charge after prior registration. Please complete the registration form by Monday, 23 February.
