On October 19\u201320, 2026, the Wind Industry Hub Foundation and the Polish Wind Energy Association are organizing a study tour titled \u201cFollowing the Trail of the Domestic Onshore Wind Energy Supply Chain.\u201d Over the course of two days, we will visit facilities in Lesser Poland, Silesia, and the Opole region where components and services for onshore wind farms are produced.<\/p>\n

The trip is aimed at representatives of the government, members of parliament, the media, local government officials, and universities. We want to provide a behind-the-scenes look at how the onshore wind energy industry operates in southern Poland: from steel and structures, through converters and gearboxes for turbines, to maintenance, diagnostics, and an operational wind farm.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe onshore wind energy industry in Poland already exists. Domestic companies manufacture components, build wind farms, and maintain them throughout their entire operational life,\u201d writes Janusz Gajowiecki, President of PSEW and Wind Industry Hub, in the introduction to the trip brochure. \u2013 \u201cThe industry needs predictability. If Poland were to add 1.5\u20132 GW of capacity in onshore wind farms each year, domestic companies could invest with greater confidence in new production lines, expertise, and further links in the supply chain.\u201d<\/p>\n

Day 1 \u2013 Monday, October 19<\/h3>\n
    \n
  • ConverterTec OEM, Brzegi near Krak\u00f3w \u2013 <\/b>a Polish supplier of control systems, switchgear, and converter applications for the largest wind turbine manufacturers.<\/li>\n
  • FAMUR Gearo, Katowice \u2013 <\/b>diagnostics, repairs, and reconditioning of gearboxes and other key turbine components. This is where GearoX was developed\u2014the first Polish main gearbox for wind turbines.<\/li>\n
  • Ecol Laboratory, Rybnik \u2013 <\/b>an accredited laboratory testing oils from, among other sources, gearboxes and turbines; under the Ecol4wind brand, it offers services to wind farm owners and operators.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    Day 2 \u2013 Tuesday, October 20<\/h3>\n
      \n
    • Wielowie\u015b Wind Farm (Akuo Energy Polska) \u2013 <\/b>66 MW, 20 Vestas turbines, in operation since 2021. The largest onshore wind farm in Akuo\u2019s portfolio in Poland.<\/li>\n
    • FAMET, Production Plant No. 4 in Opole \u2013 <\/b>steel components for the wind energy sector, and\u2014thanks to its own port on the Oder River\u2014transportation of large-sized products by water to ports on the Baltic Sea and the North Sea.<\/li>\n
    • Huta Cz\u0119stochowa \u2013 <\/b>Poland\u2019s largest producer of heavy plate, with a 130-year tradition.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      The trip serves as a practical complement to the \u201cPolish Strategy for the Development of the Onshore Wind Farm Industry,\u201d which proposes treating onshore wind energy as an industrial program rather than solely an infrastructure initiative. According to the Strategy, the value of this market between 2026 and 2040 could reach 214 billion PLN. The extent to which this amount remains in the country depends on the pace and continuity of investments. We hope that this trip will also provide an opportunity to discuss what the industry needs for this potential to continue growing.<\/p>\n
