On June 4, representatives of the Wind Industry Hub Foundation<\/b> and the Polish Wind Energy Association <\/b>\u2014 Janusz Gajowiecki<\/b> and Dominika Taranko <\/b>\u2014 took part in a meeting of the Sejm Committee on Maritime Economy and Inland Navigation. The main topic of the meeting was a discussion on the concept of building a Polish offshore wind farm installation vessel and developing a national industry.<\/p>\n
Dominika Taranko<\/strong> presented the assumptions of the Polish Strategy for the Development of the Offshore Wind Farm Industry, as well as the results of the Ship Report for Offshore Wind Farms until 2030:<\/p>\n After 2027, there is a risk of a 37 GW delay in wind projects in Europe solely due to a shortage of installation vessels, said the Vice President of WIH<\/b>. The main problem today is that the expertise and shipbuilding industry is moving to China. The establishment of a shipbuilding company in Poland is a strategic decision, a matter of national interest, and will protect us from losing our strategic independence from third markets.<\/p>\n In the Polish Strategy for the Development of Offshore Wind Farms, we have identified eight priority areas that should become our national specializations. The programs also include a \u201cNational Installation Company\u201d with its own fleet. This is probably the most difficult of all eight programs, as we estimate the cost of this undertaking at approximately PLN 5 billion\u201c she added. \u201dThis should be an entity which, in addition to obtaining financing and ordering units from (preferably) domestic shipyards, will be able to build the T&I company’s competencies. Here, we would already have to start thinking about a business model that includes an experienced foreign partner so that the company can enter the market smoothly. We will not resolve these dilemmas without the involvement of government agencies” concluded Taranko<\/strong>.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n The topic of establishing a new offshore wind farm installation company will also be discussed at a separate panel discussion on the third day of the PSEW2025 Conference.
