On May 8, the Polish Parliament held a meeting of the Subcommittee on Energy Transition, Renewable Energy Sources, and Nuclear Energy, which focused on strategic investments in the renewable energy sector, leveraging the potential of the Polish economy to create a new, promising industry. The meeting was attended by representatives of the Polish Wind Energy Association<\/strong> and Wind Industry Hub<\/strong>, Piotr Czopek<\/strong> and Micha\u0142 Forycki<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The Vice-President of PSEW <\/b>and WIH, Piotr Czopek,<\/b> gave a presentation on the assumptions of the Polish Strategy for the Development of the Offshore Wind Farm Industry. Piotr Czopek emphasized that long-term predictability, multisectoral cooperation, and integration at the government level are important for the development of the OWF industry in Poland. \u201cThe repolonisation of the economy announced by Prime Minister Donald Tusk requires a strategy and a vision. We hope that our document will help you develop a comprehensive strategy for the development of the industry in Poland.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Polish Strategy for the Development of the Offshore Wind Farm Industry was commented on by Mi\u0142osz Motyka<\/b>: “The issues raised by PSEW will be addressed by a specific department in the Ministry of Development and Technology, where this strategy has already been submitted, and we have had meetings and are in talks on how to implement it […]. Such a strategy is needed for every specific sector, including the offshore wind sector, as it is a sector that will continue to grow. This is not a 5-7 year perspective, we are talking about 18 GW of capacity by 2040 […], so 15 years ahead, and then there will be modernization, repowering, utilization, and construction of entities in the field of circular economy,” said the Deputy Minister of Climate and Environment<\/b>.<\/p>\n

The committee meeting was also attended by representatives of MEW developers, who talked about their experiences in involving domestic suppliers in their projects. “Increasing the share of Polish companies is an absolute priority for us. In the Baltic Power project, we have achieved local content of 21%. After the first phase, we have some lessons learned that we want to carry over to the second phase,” said Janusz Bil<\/strong>, president of ORLEN NEPTUN<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Bartosz Fedurek<\/strong>, president of PGE Baltica<\/strong>, commented on the presentation: “I highly recommend that government administrators and decision-makers familiarize themselves with the Polish Strategy for the Development of Offshore Wind Farm Industry. It is a very comprehensive document that shows what has already been achieved and dispels the myth that we have been struggling with for years, namely that investors are responsible for local content in Poland. For the Polish offshore wind industry to develop, cooperation between many players is needed \u2013 investors, suppliers, and the involvement of state support instruments.”<\/p>\n
