Grupa Przemys\u0142owa Baltic has completed the construction of two electrical substations (OSS) for the Baltic Power wind farm. Each substation weighs about 1,300 tons and measures 20 x 40 x 40 meters. They will convert and transmit to shore the energy produced by 76 wind turbines with a capacity of 15 MW each. The project took nearly two years to complete, involving more than 400 employees from Baltic Operator and Energomonta\u017c-P\u00f3\u0142noc Gdynia S.A.<\/p>\n

The ceremonial acceptance of the construction took place on January 23, 2025 at the GPB-owned wharf in Gdynia. The ceremony was attended by Piotr Czopek, Vice President of PWEA and WIH<\/strong> ,<\/strong> and Malgosia Bartosik, Vice<\/strong> President of<\/strong> WindEurope<\/strong> and Member of the Wind Industry Hub Program Council (WIH)<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The national offshore substation project is one of the Priority Implementation Programs we identified in our Offshore Wind Industry Development Strategy. In the opinion of the Strategy’s authors, any offshore transformer station for Polish farms, as the heart of the wind farm, should be built domestically, allowing the development of the Polish shipbuilding, electrical and auxiliary equipment industry. Developing the design potential will allow Poland to retain its competence in offshore engineering, while the critical energy infrastructure, of which OWFs will be a component, will ensure digital security.<\/p>\n

Grupa Przemys\u0142owa Baltic, acting as an integrator in this area, is doing a tremendous job in developing the domestic supply chain for OWFs.<\/p>\n
